For front-wheel-drive models of the Encore GX, the standard engine is a turbo 1.2-liter three-cylinder. It generates 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Optional for select front-wheel-drive models and standard on those with all-wheel drive is a turbo 1.3-liter three-cylinder engine that can make 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. Regardless of the engine, front-wheel-drive versions get a continuously variable transmission while all-wheel-drive models use a nine-speed automatic.
